Wall Panels, Five Panels made from Terra Sigillata, Turbulence

Product Code: ssg-turb

$1,250.00 USD

This five-panel wall hanging entitled "Turbulence" is inspired by the history and culture of Israel. Made of clay collected at the Manara cliff, these pieces result from using a broad calligraphy brush and terra sigillata, a contemporary studio pottery technique inspired by the tradition of ancient potters in Greece before the use of glaze. Roughly translated as 'sealed earth,' the popular meaning is 'clay bearing little images.' The variety of clays and the firing process produce extraordinary landscape and smoky effects.

Gibsh is an internationally acclaimed Israeli ceramicist whose work is exhibited and sold internationally, including in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem and the Land of Israel Museum in Tel Aviv. All pieces are one-of-a-kind and handcrafted in his studio in Jaffa, Israel.
