Since 1976, artist Miriam Karp has been creating vibrant, unique ketubahs. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Indiana University in Bloomington and has been awarded two National Endowment for the Arts awards for her paintings. Author Anita Diamant featured Karp in her book, The New Jewish Wedding. You can find her artwork in private and public collections in the U.S. and abroad. The Time of Singing ketubah embraces the flow and gradient color that is natural to watercolor, lending this piece a playful and artful feel. A rich navy background brings out the best of each beautiful color in the twining vines, songbirds, and curious squirrels that adorn this piece. Surrounding the text are quotes from the Song of Songs: "My beloved spoke and said to me: Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing is come; And the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land; The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines in blossom give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one and come away."
