Since 1976, artist Miriam Karp has been creating vibrant, unique ketubahs. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Indiana University in Bloomington and has been awarded two National Endowment for the Arts awards for her paintings. Author Anita Diamant featured Karp in her book, The New Jewish Wedding. You can find her artwork in private and public collections in the U.S. and abroad. This ketubah takes its inspiration from traditional Dutch folk art, with an even sky-blue background and detailed illustrations laid over top. Juicy pomegranates, intricate botanical drawings, and delicate birds surround the center text. The outer border translates the inner border's quote from Song of Songs into English: "My beloved spoke and said to me: Arise my love, my fair one and come away. The flowers appear on the earth and the time of singing has come; and the voice of the turtle dove is heard in the land; the fig tree puts forth her green figs; and the vines in blossom give forth their fragrance. Arise my love, my fair one and come away. " Additional quotes read: "I have found the one in whom my soul delights," and "Set me as a seal upon your heart." A beautiful modern interpretation of a classic artistic style.
