Danny Azoulay is a Jerusalem artist with a passion for creating high-design papercut ketubahs that both honor the past and carry meaning and tradition into the future. He calls the ketubah “a couple’s first family heirloom" and is mindful of this responsibility as he creates beautiful, architectural pieces to grace the home for years to come. This ketubah showcases many of Azoulay’s signature motifs to stunning effect. A square ketubah with a round center, this piece combines calligraphic flourishes for movement, twining vines to gracefully represent growth and natural beauty, and concentric trellised borders accented with gold leaf for a touch of sparkle and structure. Unlike most ketubahs, which display one layer of papercut above a colored background, the Dancing Waves Ketubah is created with two layers of independent details above a soft sand background. This lends a dimension and movement to the piece that cannot be created any other way. A true piece of art, this ketubah is finished with one of the most meaningful traditional phrases: “I have found the one whom my soul loves."
