Danny Azoulay is a Jerusalem artist with a passion for creating high-design papercut ketubahs that both honor the past and carry meaning and tradition into the future. He calls the ketubah “a couple’s first family heirloom" and is mindful of this responsibility as he creates beautiful, architectural pieces to grace the home for years to come. The Celebration Ketubah is alight with texture and detail. Concentric borders of trellises, delicate branches, and dome-like motifs speak of the Morocco of the artist’s childhood. The lacy papercut detail gives a depth and intricacy that cannot be captured in a photograph. At the top, the Hebrew text of “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine" presides over the text. At the foot, a second banner reads, “I betroth you forever, I betroth you in righteousness, law, grace, and compassion," a reminder of the values and traditions that a Jewish home holds dear.
