This playful sculpture depicts a wandering bear nearing a tipped basket of blueberries, a scene from Robert McCloskey's children's book Blueberries for Sal. Bostonian artist Nancy Schon has been working for decades in bronze, creating sculptures symbolizing youth, memory, and Jewish identity. Frequenty representing McCloskey's work, Schon's best-known sculpture is a bronze rendition of his book Make Way for Ducklings in the Boston Common. Blueberries for Sal is fashioned to a rotating marble base, to be viewed at any angle.
