Artist Peggy H. Davis creates in her farmhouse studio in Colrain, Massachusetts, drawing inspiration from her rural surroundings as well as Hebrew manuscripts and Jewish folk art. She works in a variety of media, including watercolor, paper cutting, colored pencil, and pastels to create ritual art that reflects the heart and soul of Jewish tradition. The Gateway Ketubah showcases a beautiful architectural archway, flanked with stately columns, and soft watercolor botanical motifs. Vines adorned with flowers and bunches of grapes twine up the columns to the archway above, drawing the eye to the text, “Ani l’dodi v’dodi li," “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine" in both English and Hebrew. This lovely design provides a frame for the text within, with glowing colors in shades of green, purple, and soft pink.
