Artist Mickie Caspi draws inspiration from both the Israeli and American design landscapes to create striking ketubahs that fuse traditional themes with clean, contemporary illustration. Caspi’s signature style blends Persian illumination, art deco motifs, and intricate botanical watercolors inspired by her own garden in Newton, Massachusetts. The Turtledove ketubah was inspired by the text from Song of Songs, “Thy love is sweeter than wine." The artist began by rendering this phrase in gold leaf, then surrounded the romantic words with a vibrant illustration of two birds perched on twining vines, heavy with grapes. The doves represent peace and hope, while the grapes symbolize sweetness and abundant blessing. The design is completed with golden quotes from the Song of Songs and watercolor shading that adds dimension and movement to this tranquil scene.
