Danny Azoulay is a Jerusalem artist with a passion for creating high-design papercut ketubahs that both honor the past and carry meaning and tradition into the future. He calls the ketubah “a couple’s first family heirloom" and is mindful of this responsibility as he creates beautiful, architectural pieces to grace the home for years to come. The Jerusalem Gate Ketubah captures the warm sunlight of the winding streets of Jerusalem. Above the text, the arched gate shelters a lush olive tree, under which two deer graze peacefully. Representing the serenity of the Jewish home, the arch and tree are also reminiscent of the chuppah canopy itself. This motif is complemented by a square border accented with gold leaf squares, which bring to mind the sun-warmed stone of the holy city. Twining stems and leaves complete this ketubah, symbolizing how the couple will continue to grow together, in peace and tranquility.
