Pomegranates are an auspicious motif within Jewish culture. The plethora of seeds held within the deep red skin are often compared to the hundreds of mitzvot, commandments of the Torah. Within Scripture, we also find them representing love and plenty. As the fruit grows abundantly in the Land of Israel, it's traditionally consumed on Tu B'Shvat and used for the shehecheyanu blessing on the second day of Rosh Hashanah. Though this sculpture is small, its might is in its rich Jewish symbolism.
