Danny Azoulay is a Jerusalem artist with a passion for creating high-design papercut ketubahs that both honor the past and carry meaning and tradition into the future. He calls the ketubah “a couple’s first family heirloom" and is mindful of this responsibility as he creates beautiful, architectural pieces to grace the home for years to come. Unlike most ketubahs, which display one layer of papercut above a colored background, the Venetian Lace Ketubah is created of three layers of independent details. This lends a dimension and movement to the piece that cannot be created any other way. Layers of ivory and warm ochre showcase twining vines and blossoms as they wind organically around the center text. A true piece of art, this ketubah is finished with golden pearls, a crowning blossom, and the Hebrew phrase “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine," rendered in delicate gold leaf.
