Artist Stephanie Caplan grew up in Newton, Massachusetts and currently lives in the East Village of New York. She draws on the energy of the city, as well as her academic background in Judaism and art history, to create ketubahs that combine art and ritual in new and surprising ways. The Rothko Turquoise Ketubah design is based on Jewish artist Mark Rothko’s no.16 (untitled), painted in 1950. Divided into three sections, this ketubah allows for multilingual text in a unique and striking format. In this design, the artist urges the viewer to interact with the ketubah as a piece of art in its own right.
