Artist Howard Fox of Carkor, Israel, is originally from Canada and invites his diverse life experiences to inspire and inform his work. Fox is known for a unique artistic style that he calls “Fiction” — the weaving of realism and imagination. This intricate and arresting style is evident in all his work, including his collection of distinctive ketubahs. The Tree of Life Ketubah features a thick border brimming with delicate scrollwork and depth of color. Like painted silk, intricate golden borders contain shades of royal blue, green, and pink Twin stars of David frame a dove of peace and a biblical harp. The text is crowned by a lush tree, containing the word “Chai,” or life, while below two Shabbat candles are framed by an arched window. The phrase “Ani l’dodi v’dodi li,” I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine, completes the piece.
